Dr. Shah joined New Age Foot & Ankle Surgery in July 2003 after completing his residency program.

Dr. Shah attended the University of Rochester, NY and received his B.A & Certificate of Management and received his podiatric degree (DPM) from Barry University School of Medical Science in southern Florida. He completed his residency in primary medicine, plastic surgery, extensive forefoot, rear foot and ankle surgery at the James A. Haley Veteran’s Administration in Tampa, Florida. During his time there, the James A. Haley Veteran’s Administration program was recognized as the busiest, the most difficult, and the most demanding hospital in the Federal Government’s Organization for American Veterans in the United States of America.

Dr. Shah’s continuing education includes: application of external fixation, advanced application of internal and external fixations, ankle and foot artheroscopy, forefoot and rear foot reconstruction, reconstructive plastic surgery of the foot, advanced surgical techniques in ankle and foot trauma, diabetic wound care and limb salvage.

Dr. Shah is an avid scuba diver. He is working to become a dive master. Some of his favorite dives have taken him to the Cayman Islands, Barbados and Mexico.

Dr. Avery is from Lawton/Ft. Sill, Oklahoma but has been moving across the United States. After serving as the Chief Resident at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford,CT, he decided that his next step would be to move to Virginia. He joined the New Age Foot and Ankle Surgery practice in Richmond Virginia in 2009. Dr. Avery enjoys working out, listening to music, and playing billiards. As an athlete, he knows the importance of a healthy lifestyle. He believes he was destined for a career in Podiatric Medicine. All of his life he has known that he wanted to help people. By attending conferences and reading journal articles, he strives on giving patients the most up to date treatments available for ailments in the foot and ankle.

Ehsan Khan, DPM

Ehsan Khan, DPM

Dr. Ehsan Khan received his undergraduate education from Virginia Tech, where he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering. Dr. Khan obtained his doctorate degree at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science in Chicago in 2015.

Dr. Khan completed a three year Podiatric Medicine & Surgery Residency at Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. He served as the Chief Resident in his final year. During his training, Dr. Khan developed excellent surgical skills while also becoming proficient in wound care, hospital inpatient care, and clinical outpatient care.

Dr. Khan has attended many conferences and health screenings throughout his time in Chicago and during residency. He has been a member of multiple professional associations throughout his training including the American Academy of Podiatric Practice Management, American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons, and American Podiatric Medical Association.

Despite his thorough surgical training, Dr. Khan's treatment goal for his patients is to have everyone walk out of the office feeling better than when they came and to avoid surgery, if possible.

His hobbies include playing cricket, table tennis, badminton, exploring outdoors, and cooking. He and his beautiful wife like to explore Richmond on the weekends. They are proud parents of a new daughter born in July, 2019.
